Abdominal Core Strength and Six Pack Abs Workouts

six pack ripped absExercising the core muscles, the abs (rectus abdominis) and obliques, is something that just about every person trying to lose weight, keep fit, build muscle, train for sports or running, does at some point. It is also the way to develop a six pack, i.e. the well defined abdominal muscles on the stomach. There are many different methods available to develop these muscles, from martial arts and boxing training methods, to yoga and pilates, as well as weight training and bodybuilding. Rather than try to evaluate each form of exercise to determine which one is "best", we shall simply present a series of tutorials for the various styles and forms of abs training. Hopefully there will be something to suit everybody.

2 Minute Abs Blast

To start with is a simple and quick abdominal exercise routine which takes some movements from pilates.

The Boxers / Martial Artist Abdominal workout

Learn a basic boxing ab workout that will help you in your boxing training. You need a partner and a medicine ball for this form of classic old school fitness training. Exercises include the catch and tuss, which is designed to strengthen the rectus abdominis (abs) and obliques. This is a very simple exercise for two people to perform, and pretty standard in boxing gyms and martial arts clubs the world over.

Abs Yoga Workout for Beginners

These abs exercises from yoga cannot be more different from the boxing training. The training states the purpose is to build powerful and attractive abs. The exercises consist of both physical exercises and breathing and relaxation. The exercises consist of a series of poses (asanas) which support the spine and strengthen the core. Not just muscular strength, but suppleness and vital energy. The location of the trianing is not ideal, but the instruction is good.

Bodybuilding Exercises - Ultimate Abs

This is part of a series of exercises for bodybuilding. Hanging leg raises, modified crunch, and seated leg raises / V-sits on the bench..

5 Minute Pilates Abs, Obliques and Core Strengthening

Here is the pilates approach to abs conditioning. The exercises here are done on a firm bed, as Pilates was developed as a form of physical rehabilitation in hospitals. Ideally you should perform these exercises on a yoga mat on the floor. Exercises here include table top, with plenty of leg raises and crunches.

15-Minute Abs Workout

Simple but effective 15 minute core workout for building abs. Starts with several varioatoins of crunches, then leg raises, stretches, then planks, side planks, then some more stretches from yoga, such as the cobra, and the child posture and cat stretches to finish.
