Body Mass Index (BMI) - Calculator
Body mass index (BMI) is a statistical measure of the weight of a person scaled according to height. It is a guide to how overweight or underweight a person is, but should not be used in isolation to diagnose a weight problem. Many bodybuilders and athletes would be considered overweight according to the BMI calculation, as BMI does not take into account muscle mass, just total mass. As muscle is denser that fat, very muscular people can show a high BMI even though they are of a healthy weight.
- BMI Weight Status
- Below 18.5 Underweight - You need to eat more, workout and build some muscle.
- 18.5 - 24.9 Normal - you are doing just fine weight- but you may not be healthy, look to improve your diet.
- 25.0 - 29.9 Overweight - you need change your diet and exercise more.
- 30.0 + Obese - You really have to make some changed. Consider the Atkins Diet, and start exercising at least 3 times per week.
